Even Wall Street takes days off.
The regular schedule for the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq is Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Eastern time with weekends off. There are also certain closures for stock market holidays. If the holiday falls on a Sunday, it will be observed the following Monday.
What Are the Stock Market Holidays for 2024?
The NYSE, Nasdaq, and bond markets will be closed on:

When Does the Stock Market Close Early?
The stock market closes early at 1 p.m. Eastern time on these days:
- Wednesday, July 3, 2024*
- Friday, Nov. 29, 2024 (the day after Thanksgiving)*
- Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2024*
*Bond markets close at 2 p.m. Eastern time.
Are There Holidays When the Stock Market Is Still Open?
Although the stock market holds regular hours on these days, the bond markets will close early at 2 p.m. Eastern time:
- Maundy Thursday (Thursday before Good Friday)
- The Friday before Memorial Day
- New Year’s Eve
And on these holidays, the bond markets are closed while the stock markets are still open:
- Indigenous Peoples Day
- Veterans Day
